We can understand some aspects of human food needs and behavior by considering our evolutionary heritage as omnivores (e.g., our attraction to sweets and fats). We can learn other things by examining our evolutionary heritage as primates. Among the primates, chimpanzees are our closest living relatives humans and chimps shared a common ancestor between 6 and 8 million years ago. What do

observations of chimpanzees tell us about human foods and food-related behavior?

  1. Most all hominins prior to 2 million years ago were primarily vegetation eaters. Somewhere around that time, we began first to scavenge meat, and secondly to hunt for game. That fact, probably has more to do with our increased brain size, than any other dietary change!

  2. i dont belive that we are from apes ,i think it was the other way around ,when the alliens came here to plant a worker force to harvest they found that if they intertwined the two it would make a stronger being ,dont be fooled by the lucy syndrome

  3. They mostly tell us that eating a strict vegetarian diet is deleterious to health, as chimps won't be in top shape without some animal fats and protein.

They also tell us that hunting behaviour would have been common before we had weaons, as chimps just bash small monkeys to death on rocks.

  4. Your question only holds up in a hypothetical sense, as there is no proof that we are, or ever were related to any other primates in a bygone era.
