  1. As a fellow sufferer of endometreosis this has been my experience. The very best thing to do is emotional cleanse. Endometreosis is caused by the endo lining of the uterus growing in other places of the body. Mine was caused because I refused to let go of things. Once I realized this I had a very cleansing period. I cried, I let myself relax. It was hard to let go of all that junk. Another thing associated with it is the emotion fear. See if you have an problem with fear and replace it with faith. Fear being the belief something bad will happen and faith being the belief something good will happen. When I finally got pregnant with my son I was drinking red raspberry leaf tea, I was drinking a supplement called Liquid Chlorophyll, and taking a multi vitamin. But once I realized I needed to emotionally cleanse I got pregnant the very next month. I no longer have problems with heavy periods, when before I thought I would die they were so bad. It's been four years and I've been able to keep it in check. However I haven't been able to get pregnant again because of scarring on my fallopian tubes. But I'll figure out that one too.   2. To take care of your endometriosis, you could take a homeopathic remedy which has proved very useful in a great number of cases of endometriosis:

    This is

    "Cimicifuga racemosa"  - also called "Actaea racemosa" (the latin name of black cohosh)

    You should buy it in 9 CH (not higher). 5 CH would also be OK.

    Take 5 granules every day for 3 weeks (no more). Let the granules melt under your tongue. Take them at the same time every day and at least an hour before a meal or after a meal.

    The results are usually very good.

Having several friends who've suffered from endometriosis, I say the following to you:  1)  It's essential to cut out all dairy products, eggs, meats out of the diet for a good long while, especially those foods on this list that have been treated with artificial hormones and antibiotics.  When my cousins come to this country from Ireland, where rBGH is not used and where the dairy cattle and steers are NOT given artificial hormones, their periods go so haywire from our food supply that they have to literally take to their beds with hot water bottles and medicine for cramps they are taken so incredibly ill.  Their periods are never like this in Ireland.  I've known several women w/ this disease/tendency who are essentially dairy addicts, some of whom eat bowls of ice cream each week, and full fat dairy at each meal, w/ lots of egg and meat consumption thrown in.  So, yes, I recommend a huge long course of vegetarianism, really strict, clean eating, w/ minimal animal foods.  A plant based diet, quite literally.  Tons of green veggies, lots of lemon, lime and grapefruit.  Tons of garlic and ginger.  Raw, fresh, organic juices of all kinds, several times per day.  

    I have one friend, Nancy, who used to have to use a diagphragm and TWO super tampons to catch her menstrual flow, and this was still often not enough protection.  She used to be found passed out on the subway, or in the bathrooms in college and later at work, her period was so screwed up.  She was told it would be doubtful she could ever have children, and her Drs. wanted to do a hysterectomy on her, and before that other surgical procedures, including an ablation and multiple D&C's.  She kind of stumbled into macrobiotics, and it quite literally, she feels, saved her womb, and her life.  You can research macrobiotics and veganism online for more info.  She followed the diet on a very committed basis for several years, and was later told by her gyno that she no longer showed any signs of the serious endometriosis (or the anaemia, and hemorrhaging she'd once had every month).  She also did herbal sitz baths, and got acupuncture and herbal treatments as well as did movement classes for her health and well-being.  She went on to have two beautiful sons.

    Herbs that are specifically helpful for endometriosis include:  Alfalfa, astragalus, garlic, goldenseal, myrrh gum, pau d'arco (aka taheebo or lapacho teas), red clover.  All of these have antibiotic and anti-tumor properties.  Burdock root, dong quai (tang kwei, also related to angelica archangelica, if you want to stick w/ North American herbs), and red raspberry leaf all will help to balance and regulate hormones, as will vitex agnus castus, and this last one, powerfully and quickly.  It is EXTREMELY bitter, so place one dropperful (about 30 drops or a half teaspoonful) in 8oz of bottled water--or more if you need it--to get this down.  Borage oil and evening primrose oil are specifically recommended for this condition, as is ginger tea and ginger compresses over the abdominal area.  Nettle is also an extremely high source of many nutrients, especially iron, which many sufferers of endometriosis are highly deficient in.  Read Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Balch and Balch, MD.  They have an excellent, highly factual section on endometriosis, which can only help you.  The info on herbs posted here was pretty much taken word for word from this book.  (I've memorized it, and I'm an herbalist, so it's pretty much second nature by now.)  Rosemary Gladstar, Jeanine Parvati, Susun Weed and Kathi Keville (as well as many other herbalists) both have excellent sections on women's health problems in many of their books.  You should be able to get info written by these authors in any good libraray or book store.



    Any bitter herbs, such as dandelion or yellow dock or a good, strong, long course of Swedish bitters in the spring time, will be extremely healing and tonifying for this condition.  Any liver/gall bladder herb or any cholagogue will be helpful as well will be any lymphatic alterative.  Chamomile tea is probably the most gentle of all the teas that will assist you with endometriosis, as are oats & oat straw, linden, and any of the mint family.  Raspberry leaf is also so gentle that you can drink it everyday, all day, if you want to.  I do believe, however, that variety is the spice of life, and that it is, in fact, essential to give it all a rest sometimes (one day a week, one week a month, even one season a year) with herbs and supplements.  This allows the body to attempt to find its own balance.  Seaweeds are also the best possible food one can eat for any hormonal imbalance/ women's issue, I've found from my own life.  They quite literally make the land fertile again, and a woman's body as well.  This is how Irish and coastal Canadian farmers made the extremely heavy, rocky and infertile soils fertile again.  (That and loads and loads of sand, peat, and manure.)  And digging it all in, which brings me to another point.  EXERCISE is of the ESSENCE w/ endometriosis.  There was a study done out of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Cramer, Daniel W. et al) that found women who exercised more than seven hours a week had ONE-FIFTH (only 20%) the average risk of developing endo as did women not exercising at all or averaging less than this.  "Unfortunately, this beneficial effect was limited to those who began exercising before the age of twenty-six."  --Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Balch & Balch, MD; p. 349  Lots to think about here, and this is just a start.
