DR's Gini Coefficient was 51.7 as of 2003 and it's probably higher now. What sort of things can they do to reduce that inequality? In my opinion I think that raising taxes for the very rich and then investing that money for creating jobs is the solution. What do you think?

  1. That's great and who is going to make sure the money actually gets invested in the population. The only way to fix Dominican Republic is to clean house completely. From the president all the way down to the police department are all if not most corrupted or complicit in some way. The Judicial system is a joke. The constitution is worthless. And the people have no sense of the meaning of patriotism or justice. The police department is gang and associated with drug dealers that accumulate wealth in the united states and buy them. There are no enforcement of or formal procedure in the laws. Police intimidation and Torture is still practice there.  There is no respect for human rights. The Hispaniola is a beautiful island that is run by criminal and uncivilized governments. This is true for both Dominican and Haiti.

I'm from the Dominican Republic and for one would be willing to reenlist if the United State ever decides to over throw this system.

  2. You can try this, but it gone to take a looooong time to achieve. Good luck!
