I'm worried

I fear with the price of gasoline above $4 a gallon most americans are going to demand more and more oil drilling in Alaska and off the coast of California and Florida.

What can I do to stop this other than writting my Congressman?

  1. move to canada

  2. We should be drilling there.  There is no reasonable explanation why we shouldn't.  And liberal propaganda does not qualify as a reasonable explanation.

  3. Why would you want to do that?  Do you enjoy making terrorist nations rich with our own money?  DO you hate the working families who are now eating spam due to the outrageous cost of fuel so that they can not afford anything else?

You know what?  That oil off the coast and in Alaska, belongs to the millions and millions of hard working men and women who work and pay the taxes that keep this nation running.

Some are fortunate to have mass transportation, most of us don't.  The days of joy rides are over, but so is the time of ignorance such as yours.

It is self serving people like you who are driving the middle class into poverty.  I hope you feel better now.

  4. Well JOE

HAve you considered DONT DRIVE? DONT TAKE A CAB? DONT BUY A PLANE TICKET? DONT GET ON A BUS?

Just walk everywhere you go and ahve a shgn on your back "Im not part of the USA Drilling for oil and I AM WALKING" so the rest of us get your message by example. OH yes DONT USE THE COMPUTER FOR INTERNET ACCESS. DId you consider that the electric company has to use gasoline diesel if not for generation, for transmission of the power to the customers? I would sure hate the perfect record of no polution in the world from drilling off shore to be spoiled by us allowing drilling here off our coasts. SO I suppose you value the whales and seals off the coast of our country more than other countries? Too bad the whales and sea life born here are more valuable to you where the oil companys have a better enviromental record than those nationalized companys like CITGO. If you want to do something what and where do you has a citizen draw the line and say NO MORE? What about asking questions like: How can we drill for oil and have neglible effect on the enviroment? Can I have an idea for a process or tool that will minimize enviromental risk? Could I take the profits from this to help other people develope and use their resources wisely? Will I improve the quality of life or just stop living?

Personally I hope the price of GAS goes to $6 or $8 a gallon and the people refuse to buy for a few days and this little slowdown would show the producers and our govt officials were all in this together. If a few banks would stop loaning the developing nations money to buy in such quantys of oil the demand will slow down. But do you want to limit others their persuit of happiness? If you say I dont care then you dont care about your country or self either cause were all in this together.  An economic slow down would be the shock we need to break off and shake up the oil economy. Cause were all in this together. There is no winner when oil is priced driven up so quickly. So to make the best of it a shake down of the oil economy is the best answer, reducing world demand is the only way to drive prices down and keep em down. If its more economical to drill over there we wont be drilling here so you dont have to worry too much. If the price keeps going up say bye bye to what you call pristeen unblemished wilderness cause you gussed it were all in this together. I personally welcome it. I can do more for others by staying the course and slowing to 55, and keep looking for solutions like you Im in this with you but I see the oil drilling as the normal course of development and God willing helping others.

You know "We're all in this together".

  5. take the bus, use mass transit, buy a bike, convert your car to natural gas.

Don't be part of the problem be the solution

  6. Oh I'm sorry... I put peoples livelihood above a couple fish.

We need to drill more... especially off the coasts and in Alaska.

Frankly it's just as much of a security issue as it is an economic issue. We can't trust the middle east for oil anymore.

  7. You stop driveing your car or riding the bus, train or plane. Then there would be more for people like me.

  8. I'm sorry I disagree with you, it is our only choice unless you want gasoline to go to $10 per gallon.

  9. Buy a hybrid.

Ride a bike, or use public transit.

Try to get pure electric cars back in testing.

Support and request additional funding for alternative fuels.

The reason they're wanting to drill is because there is a fuel shortage on the horizon, and they know the demand is there.

If people want to prevent that from happening they need to work to lessen that demand. Basically just try to consume less. That will give them time to do the research they should have done 20 years ago to ensure an alternative fuel source is around once the shortage really hits.
