I am thinking of buying a used iphone from a friend. He got it from his cousin, who got the new 3g iphone. His cousin activated it with itunes and at&t. Then the kid who im gonna buy it from, jailbroke it to work on t-mobile. Now...the service on t-mobile is cancelled. What can I do with the iphone. Does everything work the same as it would before except over wifi. Ex: maps, web, itunes store, apps store, stocks, ipod. And obviously excluding the phone and text messaging features.

  1. If there is no service thru your provider then the only thing you can use the iPod and perhaps the web when you're connected to wifi.

  2. Yeah, I have an iPhone which is unlocked for T-Mobile but i don't pay for the internet and stuff so I don't get Edge on my phone but I can still use maps, stocks, web, etc. when I'm connected to Wi-Fi.  But for sure it will work, just make sure you don't upgrade firmware because if you have a jailbroken iPhone for 1.1.3, you can't update to 1.1.4 like everyone else.  The phone will basically be an iPod touch.
