What can we, as individuals, consumers, do about Global Warming?

Not much. Anything you do will be like spitting in the ocean.  Global warming can be stopped very fast by employing good engineering though.  It seems to be something no one knows anything about.

POSITIVE ACTIONS

if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes

reduce carbon emisions,and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials,aerosol cans,burning rubbish,industrial chimneys,powerplants etc.

the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.

the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia

Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.

the protection of existing forrests.

stop building more highways,urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.

education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.

education on environmental awareness

education on family planning to curb over´populaion

Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.

more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires,such as--fire breaks

,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour

alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine

recicling wastes,limit water use

trade in your gas guzzler for a hybrid... recycle paper and plastic..stop buying/using aerosols/hairsprays that put holes in the ozone layer..and if you can afford it install solar panels in your home..

don't pollute mother earth :)

start riding a bike to work and put a cork in you mother-in-law's mouth so she stops eating like a pig and emitting noxious gases e.g. methane

Another simple economical action:

Buy a compact-flourescent light bulb.  This fits in any socket that a normal (incandescent) lightbulb does.  They cost a little more, but last for 3-5 years, so it's a much better buy than a regular bulb which lasts no more than a year and usually only 6 mos.  Also, they save a ton of money on your power bill.  They put out little heat so that you don't have to spend more on air conditioning in the summer.

Plus, they help the environment AND save you money!!!

Nothing.  It's part of a natural cycle far beyond our control.

If you need to feel like you're doing something.. there are many legit environmental issues you can adopt where you can actually have an impact.
