  1. Racism will always be a problem, but not only in England. Personally I'd go out of my way to protect foreigners from insults and abuse as a lot of racism has to do with ignorance ...not learning about each other's cultures etc.

There's absolutely no excuse for nasty racist insults - people doing this should be punished.

Saying that, your question could be turned around: What can foreigners do to tackle racism in England?

A lot of foreigners don't put in any effort into trying to adapt to the British way of life.

Let's face it, you can't expect to go to a foreign country to enjoy their better standards, but not make any effort to adapt to their culture - it has to be worked at from both sides.

  2. Export the outsiders.

  3. You asked a very good question and it's nice you actually care. I am a muslim and I have encountered alot of racism since 9/11. Islamaphobia is spreading everyday, especially due to the medias biased view. I think educating ignorant people is the only way and everyone living together, not segregated. People are afraid of what they don't understand, and that is the real problem.

  4. deported all the foreigners !!

  5. End absurd policies like positive discrimination and political correctness for a start the left have created division in Britain  through there influence on the councils and the media. This has given propaganda opportunities for the extreme right. People who come here need to respect the law and traditions of the land so no Sharia law or watering down of the Christian faith or national identity which is what the left are trying to do supported by the highly misguided Archbishop of Canterbury. It is not racist to stand up for cultural identity and respect for the law of the land if we don't then real racism will be fueled so it is in the interest of harmony and liberty we need to make a stand.

  6. A different type of racism has arisen now – racism against native British people. There are so many anti-racism programs for minorities that they now enjoy a privileged position ahead of others. Recent cases like the muslim hairdresser applicant and senior police promotions.

If there is any remaining racism against blacks or Asians, leaders in their communities need to work to improve their behaviour. We are constantly reading and seeing on the news about terrible crimes being committed by blacks (knife murders and gangs) and Asians (terrorism, gangs and fraud).

  7. Doesn't racism touch Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in your mind?

Ask Gordon Brown the Scottish unelected PM of the UK what he is doing to tackle it. Does he think by opening the gates to millions of foreigners who steal our jobs and social housing and milk our Welfare system helps?

  8. throw them out to their own country,,some of them.mary.c.

  9. you cant!! end of story really, they say it about us.

I recently went to miami in the united states and i could not believe the racism i recieved the americans were great, their hospitality was amazing and they were all helpfull when i needed something. but the spanish people there which i think may have been mexicans were disgusting. revolting people.

I do believe racism is wrong though but i believe nothing can be done about it.

  10. Racism isn't something that can be changed over night, its not like their is a big flashing light over someones head saying ''racist''. And racism is something that resides within every race and culture not just one specific type of person. I think its difficult because these people will pass on their views to their children etc so it just goes on and on..... I don't think there is alot you can do about people like that other than wait until they get a wake up call and realise its them with the problem not everyone else..... The earth belongs to no man

  11. Education. But the growth of one faith schools is a hindrance. Children need to mix with other cultures at a young ge.

  12. There is no racism in the circles I frequent.  It's not an issue, I don't care if someone is green with purple spots, their colour isn't what makes them a good person, or not.

  13. put mixed races in hard situations ( team sport etc) and then they will work as a team and maybe they might become friends

and yes there are alot of racists in england

  14. Its a facet of human nature, I don't think you can eradicate it entirely. Every country and culture has racism in some form.

  15. Get to know more people of other cultures as friends.  Not necessarily just the part time work immigrants, but the people who are permanent residents here.

  16. There's not really anything anyone can do

  17. We need to embrace our own culture, so that we don't feel so threatened by others.

We need to embrace our Englishness, and understand that it includes all who are born in England, no matter what colour.

I think people who are racist are being seen as ignorant.

And common sense - we're so busy looking for signs of racism that we're all walking on egg shells - my daughter got into trouble at nursery school for calling a child "the chocolate girl" ie the girl who brings lots of chocolate to school - something we the parents all knew about as she was generous with her chocolate to the point we wanted to complain.  Unfortunately, said child was black.

  18. Challenge it whenever you encounter it. If you hear someone making a racist remark, ask them about what they said there and then and explain that it is not right. They often don't expect this and won't be able to justify themselves at all. The end result is they look stupid in front of other people, and may eventually change their views when they realise they are all on their own.
