Hey all,

right well my girlfriend is pregnant, she has a 7 year old child from a previous relationship, and obviously this would be the second child (my first)

I work full time (38 hours pw) i walk out with £175 pw after tax she is technically a single mother, on income support. I live with my parents, but will be moving in with her come to about 8 months of the pregnancy.

I would like to know if any body has any idea of what it is we can claim? she recieves monthly child allowance. as well as her weekly income support.

Any idea's or advice would be greatly appreciated!

  1. once you are living together you can claim working tax credit and she should already be getting child tax credit. go to www.entitledto.com (or .co.uk)

it will tell you what you can claim.

  2. u can defo get working tax credits because u have a low wage and u will also get child tax credits but u will lose the income support so make sure u tell the income support people as soon as u move in or they make u pay back every penny

  3. Have a look into Working TAX Credit, or child tax credit,   I work and so does my wife we get paid fairly well and we still recive a hand out from the tax office,  The less you get paid the more you will recieve.

Have a look on the HM revenue and Customes website and research Tax credits

  4. u are entitled to working tax credit if ur on a low income and child tax credit even if ur on a very high income. i have 3 kids and get £131 a week child tax credit. dont get working tax credit at the min. but if u want proper advice i would say go to ur local citizens advice bureau, thats what i did and they helped me do the claims

  5. work 70 hours per week and claim to be a responsible adult
