Hi, my name is Brenna and I am currently sixteen years old. I have a few questions to ask you guys.

1. Why is the younger generation going to ruin the world?

2. Why can we do about it?

3. How can this change?

4. Why is my generation so shunned in society. It seems like my parents hate my generation and Im wondering why they had kids (Im sixteen and they blame things on me that arent my fault.

5. What is your opinion of our future economy? (Is it better to save now?)

These are just some questions that I was talking about with a friend. I personally think that my generation is very good at many things, we help eachother, we work hard, we are accepting. We are somewhat selfish, and image obsessed.

Thanks~!

  1. 1.  Who says we are?  It's way too early to call one way or another what we're going to do

    2.  Well, our jobs are not going to be as secure as the previous generations'.  Therefore, it's up to us to get educated and realize that it's our responsibility to get a job; it's not an entitlement.

    3.  We've got a lot of great things going for us, so keep our ideals such as equality between sexes, races, sexualities, etc.

    4.  We're seen as quite selfish and in need of gratification.  I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal about how as our generation enters the workplace, we're so used to getting praise for completing tasks satisfactorily that we expect it at work, and a lot of older people probably don't look to kindly upon this.  Also, the younger generation is always seen by some people as destroying society, but that has nothing to do with the generation itself and everything to do with the people making such comments.

    5.  IMO it's always a good thing to save.  I think that the current recession is not going to be as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be.  However, the rising food and gas prices are part of a much bigger trend: the rise of developing countries.  This will require adjustments by a lot of people, but in the long run, I think we can do it.

Overall, I think our generation has the potential to do a lot of great stuff.  We have the potential to come real close to eliminating racism and sexism, and we seem to care a lot about the environment.  It remains to be seen, however, whether this will translate into lifestyle changes, i.e. buying smaller cars or living close to work, or if it's simply youthful idealism.

  2. Your parent's parents thought the same thing about them. No need for change. The economy is a different thing though. A recessive in inevitable. We are even experiencing it right now. But this is not the only time it has happened. Recessions happen almost every 10-20 years. The dollar is weak and there are many things that can be done to fix that but the American public is too conservative to change.

  3. You could start by not saying the word "like" before every sentence.
