I'm planning a 16th birthday party for about 10-20 people, and I want it to have an Asian theme. It's going to be for girls ages 15-16. I already know how I'm going to decorate and what food to serve, but I don't know what we can do for fun/entertainment. Any ideas?

  1. 1. Mah Jong (a Japanese card game)

    2. Karaoke (HOT in Japan)

    3. Movies with Asian themes (Kung Fu Panda, Karate Kid, Anime)

    4. Dress up in traditional Asian kimonos and have a fashion show. Best dressed wins a prize!

  2. Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging.

Sumi-e, traditional Japanese watercolor painting...maybe have watercolor paper and paint and have everyone try to write their names using Japanese katakana (Japanese symbols used to spell non-Japanese words and names).

    Definely Karaoke is a must!

  4. Watch some asian movies, make origami, maybe try an asian dance, try learning a language too!

  5. do the origami, maybe calligraphy also. you can each make some type pf scroll or something along with your paper cranes!

how about having each guests Chinese fortune ready.

you can have a sushi class on how to roll and make your own sushi.

watch Memoirs of a Geisha (if you have time...it's like 3 hours long but VERY GOOD!)

or find an instructional video on Asian dancing.

don't forget the paper fans, paper lanterns, paper screens, Chinese food containers (for food or party favors!), apple blossoms, bamboo, table on the floor and no shoes in the house!

  6. Watch foreign movies? Research some Chinese or Japanese games or do Asian-themed charades?
