What can we do for our Daycare?

My last son is graduating from daycare and moving into grade school. I have had 2 boys go through this daycare and would like to do something very nice for them. This is a church daycare (though not our church).

I know my Sister paid her church daycare's insurance for a year as a thanks (they are not state accredited so they have to pay their own.)

Any recommendations woudl be great.

Thanks!

  1. That was a very nice thing for your sister to do!

Have you talked to the director?  I'm sure they could give you some suggestions!

Any part of their day care need new equipment?  How about outdoor equipment?  Can you help in that regard?

A subscription to the Mailbox Magazine or other magazine they usually get.

Is there a way you could help advertise for them?  Recommending families is a great way to say "thank-you!".

  2. One thing I always missed at the daycares struggling for money... a decent place to sit while eating on my break or reading books to the kids.  Nothing was adult sized.  Keep a look out for the break room and if the furniture looks decent or not.

One daycare director I worked for took us to a decent Italian restaurant for dinner on a Sunday evening.  It was sooo nice to get to know those we worked with while we were clean and not cutting up someone else's food.  Loved it!  A little token of your affection would be a nice touch, too.

I do like the books or bookshelf idea, too.

  3. Pay their insurance for 2 years -- you're twice as good as your sister -- that'll show EVERYONE.

  4. I'm sure the Day care would appreciate any incentive you made. Whether or donate money to old toys and books that your sons no longer need or use. Day cares appreciate any and all of the donations they recieve. One special way you could thank them and show your appreciation would be to ask them if there is particularly anything they need help with, or simply see if you have the time to maybe volunteer some of your free time to help them out. Day cares take alot to operate so anything and everything that you can think of to help them would be appreciated.

  5. well it depends on if you are doing something for the business or the people working there.  paying ins is great for business but the care givers dont benefit from that.  how about a gift card to a bookstore/ toystore/teachers store in your area. atleast they would see the gifts in their room and think of you every time they use it.

  6. Purchase toys, and or equipment for them to use with the children.  If you have a large budget outdoor equipment, if your budget is smaller any thing from colors to puzzles would be appreciated.

  7. Give them a gift certificate to Discount School Supply.com or Scholastic . The first has great prices on all the basics, the second is a great source for kids' books. Don't forget something nice like a goodie basket for the staff.

  8. What about donation of books!

    Or nice furniture.

Maybe you could donate money to those single parents who can't afford childcare for a year to that daycare.

  9. I think the ideas about donating books and toys are great ideas. I know that you had said you wanted to donate something to the whole center, but did you have a particular teacher that went out of her way for you & your child? I had a parent once give me a $50 gift card to spend at walmart on things for the classroom. That was really nice because teachers never get enough funding for the supplies that they need.

  10. A great thank you could be donating new story books or a gift card to a book store.
