In view of the high price of oil which has contributed to a big increase in the cost of living, what can we do to reduce our personal expenditure?

  1. Buy cheaper foods, like buy the supermarket's own brand instead of the huge commercial bands. They usually taste the same and are much cheaper!

    Obviously, don't drive as much - if it's a 10 minute car drive, think about walking. And take public transport!!!

    Cheaper clothes!! There are some great clothes that are crazily cheap and they're just as good as other brands.

    When you buy something, really think to yourself - do I need this? Do I REALLY need this? Could I substitute for something already at home?

    Electricity + water bills - turn TVs, lights etc etc off and be sparing with the water.


  2. Spend less:

    1) identify fixed costs such as rents, mortgages, and regular bill such as fixed line phone, Internet etc. Switch to smaller plans wherever you can

    2) Buy raw food and cook at home (always cheaper than eating out)

    3) First access need then compare prices before buying
