  1. My youngest son used to have colic a lot and I tried a few stuff with him but the one thing that finally worked and it was like a miracle for him was Mylicon drops, that worked wonders with him, believe me. It's an over the counter medicine that you can find anywhere. Hope he gets better soon

Oh and be careful with the formula you give him, sometimes it's too strong for some babies stomachs, like the ones with iron, and that causes colic all the time.

  2. cant get rid of it.. there is some kinda medicine at the store that helps or some type of water. called gripe water???

  3. Colic at times goes without reason.  I have a 4 week old, and he was very very fussy for the first 2 weeks, I tried everything, and finally changed his bottles, that did the trick.  He was having extreme amounts of gas, from swallowing to much air during feedings. (im also breastfeeding) I had to change his formula to the sensitive variety which seemed to help as well.  So something that worked well also was turning on the vacuum.  I know this sounds insane, but my Son loves it,  when he is fussy, or not content I just start vacuuming, he is sleeping within minutes.  I guess its something with the noise.  Other than that I know its hard to deal with, but it will get better, most children will outgrow colic by the time they are 3 months, so just hang in there.  Good Luck.

  4. Help for Crying Babies

The world is a noisy, bright, busy place for your newborn. If your baby cries excessively within the first 48 hours of life, bring your baby to your physician to make sure everything is ok. Then feed your baby, change your baby, make sure your baby is nice and warm. Now you can:

    1. Turn down the lights, turn down the sound, slow down movement and activity.

    2. Hold your baby in their favorite position to help them look out and focus on a bright light or blank wall.

    3. Roll up your baby's sleeves and bring the hands close to the mouth so that your baby can look at or suck on their hands, fingers or thumbs.

These steps will help your baby to use their instinctual skills to calm down and stop crying. Practice these self-calming skills daily with your baby and within a short time your baby will automatically use these natural skills to calm and relax. More information on this self-calming program for babies in my book, this will help you to get started on the program. Good for you for reaching out for help. Make sure you are continuing to take your prenatal vitamins as this will help to reduce your stress levels. Best wishes, G

  5. There is no cure for colic.  It goes away on it's own usually by 3 months.  You can do things to try to comfort the baby but thats about it.  You can try mylicon or gripe water but they are kind of an after the fact semi-remedy.  Colicky babies are in pain for some unknown reason, usually tummy problems.  There just isn't any cure-all for olic though.  Try to make baby and comfortable as possible and it will eventually pass.  If your baby hasn't grown out of it by 3 or 4 months then I would go back to the doctor.  Could be gas, relfux, gastritis, allergy to formula or something in breastmilk.  Too hard to know.  Good luck, it's tough but it will pass.

Edit: Are you breast or bottle feeding?

  6. I don't care if you go with someone else's advice on here, but seriously - give this a chance as well. Go get a copy of The Happiest Baby On The Block by Dr. Harvey Karp. He's a very well experienced pediatrician that explains how to soothe a colicky baby in this book. It was a lifesaver for me with my colicky son. Check out the Amazon reviews... I'm not the only one that loves this book. ;)
