  1. That's pretty cowardly in my opinion, and hardly likely to break a fight up. It's more likely to cause a fight. Best to stand back and enjoy the action.

  2. If you are working security at the bar no. this is a dangerous strike and can easily cripple or kill somebody. If you are working security you need to rely on restraining holds such as a choke or lock.

If you were a bystander or friend of one of the participants then definetly not. Unless someones life was in danger you have no business sticking your nose in it, especially in a physical manner. Yoiu are lucky you didn't go to jail for assault, because that is what you commited.

Manda M you need to get a clue. It was exactly the wrong thing for him to do. This punch or strike to this area is illegal in every ring fighting sport there is, that should tell you something right there about how dangerous it is.

  3. Depends on how big the fight is. Start handing out pool cues and when you run out, head for the back door and call the cops!

  4. Punching someone to the back of the head is very dangerous. As Katana said it is outlawed in many arts due to its high risk of doing serious injury.

Since I don't know the exact circumstances it is hard to say how the situation should have been handled. One thing is for sure that is not the way to do it.

  5. no.

Stop going to the bar and stop drinking is the the right thing to do. Your body should be your temple.

You thump the wrong person and now you are in the fight. As in any fight anything is possible. You could get injured and worst.

  6. Simple answer as others have said...

No. Not even remotely the right thing to do.

Would punching you in the face be the right way to break up a fight? h**l to the no.

The same as punching someone to the back of the head. Which is actually aggrevated assault (as it has the intention of killing or maiming).

First off, never try to break up a fight by yourself unless you want your @rse kicked. Secondly never punch, kick, hurt someone who is already pissed off. It only makes them further enraged.

Third off, if it isn't your job to break up a fight, you are much better off to find someone whose job it is to break up a fight, and avoiding getting in any potential law enforcement trouble for being involved.

Not only do you risk seriously hurting someone, but you risk breaking your own hand on someone's skull, and it is close to the dumbest thing I can think to do in an attempt to break up a fight.

That sounds more like you were jumping in to me, which you should have just been honest about to begin with.

Anyway, as I said the ramifications of this not only as a cowardly act, is also that it will not help anyone, and least of all you. Because in all honesty the chances of you, an untrained person, actually hurting or KO'ing someone using this is HIGHLY unlikely. More likely is you either hurting your hand, or invoking some of your victims friends to come into the rescue and looking to deal you some damage from behind (they might be smart enough to have a brick in their hand while doing it).

So no, not the right thing to do ever. Best case scenario you do render the guy unconscious, yay! More than likely he sues or at least files a police report, and you go to jail, and have a desperate attempt at keeping your backside safe for a couple of weeks or months. Or he comes back and shoots you later... or takes the opportunity when he sees you out and about to blindside you.

Keep in mind no one likes losing, especially if they are blindsided or cheap shotted. If you were to KTFO someone with this, you can expect payback. But more likely you won't and just suffer the immediate consenquences, and other possible ramifications ranging from getting your 4ss kicked, to police trouble, to civil court trouble..

In other words... no it is a dumb idea.

  7. you should have gotten in the middle push them apart and if one of them decided to swing grab the other guy and move away

  8. Yes, that's the fastest way to end a fight.

The politically correct way is of course to break it up in the middle, but that will put you in a situation where they might decide to punch you first before punching the other guy.

Me, unless it's my job then I won't break up fight. Call Police or security.

If one of the party involved is your friend, then YES, by all mean you did exactly the right thing.

There's no honor in a bar fight, and the difference sometimes can be just what kind of car you go out of there in....your own or the ambulance.

  9. You should have got between the indiviuals who was fighting and push them away from each other. Make sure you have someone to back you up.
