What can you do for a bee sting near the eye?

a co-worker of mine got stung in between her eye and nose. the whole eye is really puffy. what can be done to help?

  1. Don't use raw steak or bacon!  You could just be transferring bacteria to the site that's already inflamed from the sting.  The old wives tale of a steak on a black eye is just that.  It's the coldness of the frozen steak that is helpful.  Stick with plain old ice.  Put some ice in a plastic bag then in a thin towel.  Ice it for 15 minutes out of every hour, no more or she could risk frostbite.  Good luck!


  2. Put a raw piece of bacon or steak on it and hold it there for several hours. It will make the swelling go down and cause the stinger to come out.

    Unless you're like me and allergic to bees. Get me to the nearest hospital emergency room five minutes ago!

  3. In this case, ice seems to be the best bet. Reduce the swelling and make sure the stinger comes out if lodged.
