My baby has been constipated for a while now and I tried getting her adjusted and the chiropractors and juice. Nothing. I took her to the emergency room and they gave her something that made her go for a small bowel movement. What can I do Please help??

  1. Try to give more water, if you are giving your baby canned milk, it is loaded in iron and the iron makes babies constipated.  I don't know how old your baby is but try to make slow adjustments at first until you see results.  When my oldest was really constipated, the doctor told me to try 1/2 ounce prune juice and one cup sterilized water.  If no results in 4 hours try a little more prune juice, but do not give straight prune juice as it would probably be too harsh.  Keep giving water throughout the day to make BM easier.  If you still have no luck call your doctor and ask about something else that can be given that will not harm your baby, but will give her some relief.

  2. a temporary solution is any over the counter "stool softener" at your local drug store supermarket baby isle, the most effective is the suppository type - a little unpleasant for both you and baby but the most effective

  3. have you tried baby prune juice and you need to go see the babys doctor right away

  4. How old is your baby??

My husband used to give my daughter carob extract (few drops in her bottle of water) apparently it was his dad remedy for him as a kid.

I also used prunes puree (baby food) and added a little sugar to make it tastier.

  5. As they say, besides apple and prune juices, white grape/pear/pineapple are all good for the bowels.

She's old enough for water - increasing that may help.

And if she doesn't do for 3 or 4 days and/or gets really uncomfortable, either give her a baby-size glycerine suppository or put a well-lubed sliver of soap up her butt: either way it'll make her do a dooey in 5-20 minutes.

  6. Start drinking more apple juice, it helps my little one who is breastfed. Also, cut back on the rice cereal it can constipate. Try pear or apple baby food to help her go.

  7. Give them a little cranberry juice... or go to a local drug store and look for baby stomach aid.

  8. For a baby you want to ask your doctor. You need to be careful with a baby and I would only get that kind of recommendation from a doctor. If she/he is in toddler or around the ages of like 7 you can give them some prune juice. No laxatives.

  9. Try mylocin. I don't think that's how you spell it but that's what we tell customers to get when their baby has gas. It's in the infant section of stores. It helps with some babies and I've talked to people where they say it didn't help at all.

Maybe she's lactose intolerant. Did you switch the brand of food she eats? Some rices if you switch brands it can make their tummy's really bad.

I would call your pediatrician just to be sure. Maybe they can do some tests to see what's up.

  10. feed him/her watermelon.

  11. You could give her some baby food prunes if her doctor says it's ok.
