we live in st louis, mo and I have a double garage. I have an suv and my husband has a big 2007 silverado truck. we are good drivers but with the size of our vechicles we need room to get out. Our street is not that big, but our neighbor's guest continue to park on the opposite side of our driveway. we ask kindly for them to move, but today someone almost refused and belittled us making it seem like we do not know how to drive. we are just trying to be safe. If we were to hit a car they would be mad and just want to see insurance card. we pay enough for insurance and can not afford a silly accident. WHAT SHOULD WE DO??????

  1. why dont you and your husband just back in your drive way its a lot easier to put out than to try to back up

  2. They are within their rights.

  3. Sorry, but I'm on their side.  They are parking legally and it is the size of the street and size of your vehicles that are the problem.  Come out of your driveway at an angle already to make the turn smoother.  Or, just do the whole back up, move forward, back up again thing to get your vehicle out without risking damage to theirs.

Yes, it sucks, but you can't do anything.  You could talk to your neighbors and tell them you are worried about hitting their cars and ask if they can ask their guests to park elsewhere to protect THEIR PROPERTY.  But that is all you can do.  If their guests refuse, you have to make the adjustments.

  4. i 3rd mo...

but really, call up the city and ask them to contact the neighbor for you.  my parents had a similar prob finally got the cops to get these ppl to move their ride down just a bit.  they neighbors were kinda pissed but at least it kept us from banging into their car and them collecting some big insurance claim.

  5. i second mo

  6. Start parking out on your lawn until all their property values decrease.

Better yet, if one of you or both of you get home before they come over, YOU PARK IN THE STREET until you break them down and they want to call a truce.

Unless, at the time they want to stop being a problem, you guys are so highly amused about the sloping property values that you want to start making crazy demands on everybody in the neighborhood before you help them increase the value of their property by not parking on the lawn...I mean, then you could run with it for a little while.

Watch out for tire slashers, though!

    Good Luck.

  7. Torch it when it gets dark.
