What can be done here? We were never notified that the flight had changed days. We did recieve an email that the our original flight was scheduled for July 20th at 7:30 had changed to July 20th at 8:00pm.

At first glance we said no big deal, just half an hour right? Well, what we failed to pick up on was our original flight was booked for the 22nd!

There was no mention of a date change and the email acted as though our original flight was leaving the 20th.

After checking our original booking emails, sure enough, we were booked on the 22nd. We recieved no notification that the flight had chaged by 2 WHOLE DAYS!

Any thoughts?

  1. If you booked via a travel agent or booking agent, contact them and they should resolve this for you.  If you booked direct with the airline, contact them, have all of the relevant emails handy including date and time they were sent.

  2. To use the airline lingo, they should reaccomodate you on another carrier (in other words, buy you a ticket on a different airline).  Just ask them to do that, and if you sound like you know what you're talking about, they should do it.

Of course...if other airlines don't go to your destination on that day, either, your only options are to stay the extra 2 days, or take a full refund.

I had booked a ticket to Montreal on American, arriving at noon, and had arranged for a dogsled ride 90 miles North of Montreal just after dark that night.  They tried to change me to a flight landing at like 8 or 9pm.  I insisted, so they bought me a ticket on Delta, arriving close to my original time.

  3. Apparently, you are visiting an island somewhere where the air service is not operated daily. If the airline has changed its schedule, give them a call and see if you can stay longer, or go somewhere else they fly instead.

    Regards,

    Dan

  4. You should definitely call your airline to sort this situation out. We members of Yahoo! answers won't do you any good. An airline shouldn't be changing a flight date two days prior to your original booking. Passengers would then have to pay for hotel accommodations for the additional two nights. This could have been an error within your airline's booking system.

    Happy flying and good luck!
