In June of this year, I sent a money order of $80 to a local anime convention to get an artist's table. I was told they were holding a spot for me.
In the last few months apparently the coordinator of the artist alley at this anime convention was having major issues with email and communication. Many people had to message her through forums or other websites just to get ahold of her. Most people never even got any response since January of this year.
It's already August, the convention is at the end of the month, and I'm very worried. I've gotten no response or confirmation from anyone at the convention. I also recently heard from their meetings they've "overbooked" the artist alley, and they were promising to fix it by the 3rd (which they haven't, and all artists are in the dark). I sent a money order, but according to the sheet attached it could take me up to a month to even get a refund if they tried to stop the money order (and it'd end up costing me another $15 to get said refund). I emailed everyone I could find involved with the convention last week to get a refund, and no response. Since there is no communication, it wasn't my fault their alley overbooked, and I just want my money back to get out of this hellish situation.
I just don't know what to do at this point. Is there anything else I can do to try and get a refund from them?
If anyone wants to read further on the problem it's here: http://www.kumoricon.org/forums/index.php?topic=6807.0
BTW, the convention is in Oregon, and I'm in Washington. While this convention does and will hold some general public meetings before the con, the cost of gas alone to try and get my refund and talk to someone in person at this meetings isn't doable.
