My mother knows the teller at the bank where i do my banking, the teller allowed my mother to access my account to check my balances on a regular basis. Needless to say mom and i dont speak, Do I get the teller in trouble for allowing this and how secure is my account ever going to be when a teller can override a password on the account. How does this happen. Please give me some advice on what to do. Can my mother be introuble for requesting unauthorized information. Can the teller loose her job.

  1. Go to the bank and ask to speak to the manager.  Inform the manager that you want to close your bank account because the teller gives your mother access to your account.

Take your money and open an account at another bank.  The teller will be at least reprimanded and your account won't be accessible to the teller or your mother.

  2. If you are under 18..... that is the way it goes. If the account was opened before you were a 18 and your parents name is on it...... that is the way it goes.

If neither of those conditions apply and you are over 18? Hmmmm.....

As far as getting your mother legally in trouble? That would be a stretch and not really worth the effort. Why does she need to check your account anyway? When her freind tells your Mother that she can no longer help her or loses her job she will know well enough.

I would march down to the bank and go to town with the branch manager. I would have the attitude that if I was Jesus and his father God himself wanted to look at my account he should not be able to access that info.

The branch manager needs a whenfore. If it is a chain bank you can go higher. Even if it is not you can threaten to go higher. You are thoroughly pissed attitude. You want her fired. She may or not be but she might not be allowed to eve

Keep it calm and look the branch manager in the eyes and say "what are you going to do about this"? "As it would be rather unfortunate if this happened again and you were forced to take action". No blah, blah blah. What are you going to do. If given the runaround say fine, you shall be speaking to the higher ups and the authorities. Less said is more. It freaks out people who think they can talk through something.

The higher ups and the authorities can easily look at the records of what a teller accessed. The bank does not want that to happen as that could open up a whole can of worms.

If you get that all coverered and they are kissing your butt. If you pay a fee for having an account you want totally free checking from now on.....

  3. I would have the teller fired...ASAP!

  4. I am also a teller... We are NOT allowed to give anyone any information unless they are on the account or if we have a written, signed letter of authorization. If there is a problem going on with you and your mother.. it might be wise to notify the bank.. that way it doesn't happen anymore.
