  1. write a review on Yelp! list out everything that bothered you about that restaurant ... this way, you can help other people avoid it ... especially if it gets consistent bad reviews.

  2. My husband says to vote with your dollars and not go to that restaurant any more.  I'd ask to speak to the manager before you leave the restaurant (or before you pay the bill).  Calmly let him know what you were dissatisfied with.  It's his/her job to make customers happy.  If you don't get a satisfactory response from the manager, write a letter to the restaurant's headquarters. The business people there will want to know what problems their restaurants have. You can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau or leave an online review at sites like Yahoo Local, Yelp.com, chowhound.com. You could also write comments on the credit card receipt that the restaurant keeps (so the waiter can't just throw it away) and not leave a tip.

  3. Talk directly to the owner / mgr.

  4. Speak to the manager and get a free meal.

    Works everytime.

    lol

  5. c. get the manager to give you a refund. Then resort to a.

  6. talk to the manager about a refund. If he does not give you one then there isnt much you can do apart from never go to the restraunt again and dont let any of your friends go there

    Hope this helps

  7. write the owner

  8. Depends on what you want. Most managers (and all owners) want their customers to come spend money. But the person waiting on you might be the owner's problem son or daughter, so complaining won't get you very far.

But if you basically like the place, and might want to come back, you have to tell someone. Sometimes they'll comp you.

If you're still brooding about a meal last month though, don't bother. They'll think you just want a free meal, and life is too short to hold on to that stuff. ;)

  9. dont go there again and write or call to the management.

  10. It depends on the restaurant.  I work at Denny's, and we have "service cards" on all of our tables at all times.  The customers can fill them out and rate on a scale of one to five how their service was at our restaurant.  There is room on the back to completely describe any details necessary.  Management does look at them.  They actually like to look at the bad ones over the good ones just to see any changes that need to be made.  There is a number on the bottom of the card for our "corporate", where you can call and complain, and it WILL get the restaurant in a lot of trouble.  Most restaurants that have large corporations across the US have modifications of this, and you can ALWAYS ask for their corporate number from their manager or what not.

As for a smaller, lesser known place, I'm not sure you can do much because it has private owners.  I would talk to the manager or owner before I left, and explain what happened.   Then express that you are seriously thinking about never stopping back again.  See how they react.  If they do something that is sincere, I would go back at a later date and see if history repeats itself, and if it does, then make the drastic decision that it is the restaurant that has overall poor service.  Sometimes, the server is having a bad day, or something threw them off just for one night.  After all, they are people too, and who knows, maybe they had a loss in their family that day, and were having trouble dealing with it.  I know I've had my days.

There was a guy last night who came in by himself, and he ordered a meal, and after I delivered it, I went to do my sidework in the back before the UA locked all of the stockrooms, and he told her at the register that "She needs to learn how to pay more attention to her tables," when he wolfed his food down very quickly, and I was only in the back for about five-seven minutes.  He didn't know what was actually keeping me away from his table for a little bit.

Anyways, take it from a server, there are many options, but I wouldn't sell a server out after only having them once!

Hope this helps, sorry if it was kinda long! :)

  16. BOTH! :)

  17. a

  18. Talk to the manager in person, and if your server is there point him out.

  19. Talk with a manager in person and be sure you know who was serving you. If you get turned away before you're giving a chance to speak write a letter to the owner.

  20. It depends on HOW bad and how evil you are how badly you want to hurt them.  You can do a LOT or a little to them.

First, leave a penny as a tip.  This will tell the waitress or waiter (wait-person?) how you feel.

Ask to speak to the manager while you're there and let them know how you feel.  If no manager is there send them a letter but find out if there's a corporate office or not.  Like with Denny's you would send a letter to the manager and a copy of that letter to Denny's central, wherever that may be.

Next, you send a letter to the Better Business Bureau.  Tell them what happened and demand that the BBB do something.

Now if you are totally evil and want to really mess with this place you can get a hold of the Health Dept for their town and tell them about the cockroaches and dirty baseboards and the week-old french fry grease.  Try to make valid complaints that include things like:  the chef did not wear a hat or a net covering his hair.  You saw the busboy or chef in the bathroom when you were there and they did NOT wash their hands upon leaving.  The cook dropped food on the floor and then scooped it up and put it back on the grill while you were watching from a side door on the way to the bathroom.  You saw the dishwashwer standing outside and when he thought no one was looking he reached up and grabbed a pidgeon off the roof and broke it's neck and carried it inside and you suspect that it was the "special of the night".  Now that you have the idea I'm sure you can come up with some things that you noticed while you were there that could be mentioned.

The above is acceptable ONLY if the manager tells you to fly a kite and does NOT give you a coupon for a FREE dinner or equivalent.  Even an apology can be acceptable in some cases.  It's up to you.

There are more evil things that you can do:

Call the IRS and tell them that you saw them withholding money from the receipts on several occassions and when you asked the manager if he was really doing that he said "Trust me, The IRS will NEVER notice".

Call the cops and say that you saw the manager taking cash from a guy at the back door and he handed the guy a plastic baggy that looked like it was full of oregano or spices or something.  Tell them that you want to remain anonymous and don't give them your name.

Fill out a gang of magazine coupons with the manager's name on it.

Call the local rock quary and order a bunch of gravel and ask that it be delivered early in the morning and be placed in the center of the driveway of the restaurant in question.  They should be on to this one by now but you never know.

The last few items are not exactly legal and should be done anonymously and without telling your friends of your evil deeds and remember that YOUR kharma account will be charged accordingly.

There are many more things that you can do but they are definitely NOT legal so you should stick to being happy with calling the health dept if supported by evidence and the BBB, and the manager.

If you are calm, cool, and collected and speak slowly and evenly and look him straight in the eye, the manager will recognize that you are upset and should offer something to make up for your upset.  Remember that everyone is a MIRROR so if you yell and scream at the manager he/she will prb return the insults but if you smile and speak softly he/she will recognize that you are a person to be dealt with.  (The quiet spoken ones are usually the most devious and ruthless and have a back-up plan should they NOT get what they want).

if the local paper has an editorial section you can have them print your dissatisfaction for the public and if they have a culinary expert or some whistle blower for the local establishments you can fill them in too.

Inform the local Chamber of Commerce of your treatment at the restaurant in question and see if they have any recourse.

You can even take them to Small Claims Court and ask for your money back and compensation for your time and effort.

If you're a student you can get your fellow students together and have everyone go in during the busy hours and order a cup of coffee and then sit there for hours and tie up a bunch of their booths and tables.

Many more ideas ... but too evil to tell ... like making them a Halloween "target" or offering a free dinner via email.  Handing out fliers.  Getting friends together to boycott the place and make signs and picket them.  Park a car out front that has grafitti against the restaurant.

If you are a minority you can claim racial discrimination and notify the NAACP or equivalent and say that the waiter-person called you a nasty anti-racial name.

Hang a noose somewhere if that's not too old by now, and let them try to figure out why it's there.

  21. Write the management.

  22. a and b

  23. dshdsfh

  24. B, you have the right to complain, it probably spoilt your night

  25. just dont go again... or talk to a manager... maybe you will get some free food or coupons ?? you never know

  26. Never go back.

  27. I will discreetly ask to see the Manager when I am leaving.  Politely explain what was bad, food or service or atmosphere.

If it is after you have left, write a letter to the restaurant or if a chain write to customer relations at their corporate office.

If the restaurant cares about future business, they should try to rectify your complaint.

When you have have a good experience you might tell ten or twenty people.  If you have a bad experience you will probably tell a hundred or more.  They know that.

  28. I think you should go back there and kick their asses!

You shouldnt have to put up with horrible food.. just get some microwave chips or something. seriously. :)

  29. I WOULD RAISE CAIN..........I WOULD COMPLAIN UNTIL THE COWS WENT HOME..I WOULD NOT WALK OUT OF THOSE PREMISES WITHOUT THE PROMISE OF EITHER A FULL REFUND OR  free meal.

AND THEN, i would proceed to write the better business bureau .....and call consumer advocates...FURTHERMORE...i would warn all and any of mine acquaintences..and urge them to BOYCOTT THE PLACE...until restored under  a more congenial management!

  30. Just not go there again....Thats only if it was really bad tho.

  31. is it a chain... hit up the 800... THEY usually do care, even if the individual store does not.  if it is individually owned, let the owner know, believe it or not, they care.  word of mouth is everything.  but don't do it by letter.  do it in person.  much bigger impact.  if u take the time to go to the establishment and speak directly to the owner/manager u will get results. no joke.  take it from someone who knows.  i am in the hospitality industry and this is how it works.
