  1. It's hard to do.  Start out in "entry level jobs" for a few years - it's sort of expected that you won't stay in them for a long time so it won't look too bad on your resume - plus, you'll get a better feel for what kind of working environment you need to be successful.  For example, I learned early on that I CANNOT work for more than 1 boss.  Not sure why some companies think that it's OK for 1 employee to report to 2 or 3 different bosses for various projects, and some employees can handle it, but I can't.  I need direction from one person only, and I need consistency.

While you're figuring that out - get some counseling so you're ready to find a job where you can stay for a while (a couple of years or more) once you've made some peace with the past.

Unfortunately - those old ghosts really never go away, but you can learn how to manage them and how to tell when your problem is really with your job/boss and when your problem is really tied to unresolved issues with your parents.

Good Luck - you're on the right track because you already see a pattern and have a good idea of what the problem is!

  2. you need counselling. What you have been missing in life is a stable caring adult to guide you in your life decisions and challenges.  Many people lack this.  Having a life guide can make or break you.  You need help to get out of the space you are in.

  3. Don't use that as an excuse. You make your own choices now. Resolve your past conflicts and move on.

  4. You have to take control of you. Get a job and do your best, prove to your parents that you are sucessful. That will be a statement in it self. You are using your parents as reason to fail.
