What can you do if your car stops working in the middle of traffic or in a road while driving?

It's never happend but i know cars can stop working or may run out of gas. I've seen some people sometimes that push their car. do they put it on Neutral? But then how would you push it if you have bad knees? And what if the car is between cars. then it would stop traffic and everyone would get mad

It happened to me several years ago.  Timing belt went early and the whole engine blocked up - and I was on a rush-hour freeway!  Somehow I had the presence of mind, IMMEDIATELY, to let the car coast - making sure NEVER to touch the brake - while I merged forcibly to the right and directly onto an off-ramp that God or Buddha or something put there for my convenience and mine alone, because it was a perfect landing.  Once stopped, I put the car in neutral (you got that right!) and with the help of a homeless man, pushed it to the end of the ramp, turned it right, and on to a McDonald's, where I bought the guy some breakfast while I called for a tow.

Another time, on a surface street, I was with my mom, and she was driving.  A tie-rod disconnected so she had no steering.  I immediately told her to remove her foot from the gas and throw the car in neutral - which she did without question - and then told her to coast to the shoulder.  She followed right along.

Both instances go to show, I think, that you already KNOW what to do.  Your mind will take control and guide you.  Even when it was my mom driving, HER mind knew enough to listen to me without question.

If your car dies IN very slow or stand-still traffic, someone will probably help you push it aside.  As for those who will get mad, f*ck 'em.

there always a shoulder road to push the car a side if it obstructing other traffic

do not worry about others getting mad in an unforeseen interruption

they will gladly help a fellow driver , it matter how you ask for assistant for everyone convenient if you alone

try not to consider pushing a car alone cos is not the gear problem but the  brake problem when you are outside the car

put your hazards on and put up yer hood. If the drivers behind you don't get it and sit there and beep at you they're the stupidest people you will ever see.

This has actually happened to me, My timing belt broke on my CRX right in the middle of a one lane road that is super busy-I had tons of cars behind me. I got out and looked at the guy behind me and he got out and helped me push the car to the side-He put the car in neutral- I called AAA-it was even raining ! Truly sux,but it happens!  If there is no one to help , if you have a cell or phone near-just call the police.
