  1. Buy a filter.

  2. Change the water regually

  3. Hi Cady, only 2 things you can do:

    1. Return it to the store

    2. Give it to someone with the means to look after it properly.

No fish deserves anything less than 10 gallons in a tank with a fitted lid & a filter. This is not negotiable-anything less means the fish suffocates on it's own waste. The link below has all the info you need to keep your Goldfish happy & healthy for years.

  4. Unfourtunatly your fish friend won't live long in a bowl with no filter, imagine if you were that fish in a bowl, swimming in your own filth, trying to breath fresh oxygenated water, and cant. Filters are ment to clean and freshen the water fish reside in. Putting any type of fish into a bowl with no filtration system is cruel. In my opinion.

  5. Gold fish are notoriously dirty. The bigger tank the better.  Small gold fish bowls won't let them last long at all.

  6. all you can do buy a big tank do daily partial water changes then the tank should be understocked.

    kOi keeper & goldfish keeper

  7. keep fresh water and keep the tank clean the best thing to do is get a tank with a filter.

  8. Feed them regularly and make sure you clean out their tank often. That's the best advice I can give you.

If people could answer mine it would help me out a TON! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  9. get a bigger bowl so it can grow

  10. keep the fishes water relatively clean (take half of the dirty water out and put clean water in)

you can also try putting a aquatiq plant in

  11. Um, get it a 20 gallon tank with a filter any enjoy your fish for a good 10 more years!

  12. Doing 25% water changes every other day is the best bet for their survival. Goldfish are dirty fish, so it's necessary if you don't have a filter unfortunately.

  13. No filter?  Keep changing the water. It's not ideal, but it will help your fish survive untill you can get a decent filtered tank for it to live in.

Of course changing the water every 2nd day is a major drag, most people get sick of doing it, and their fish dies.

A big filtered tank you only need to change part of the water each week or 2, and it stays much cleaner between changes. Better for the fish, easier for you.

  14. get a filter watch the water temp remember in the the live in ice cold water feed 1 to 2 times a day

  15. Don't keep them in a small bowl,

Also, take good care of them

  16. A goldfish requires a 20 gallon tank with a filter.  They live short miserable lives in bowls.  A fancy goldfish should reach 8" in length and live at least 10 yrs while a common will get 12" long and can live well over 20 years.  When they are kept in small dirty containers their growth is stunted and they die painful deaths from organ failure.
