  1. Same thing with the boss' Cadillac.  Motor that pulls the catches should be checked, first check power at wires and re-connect or replace.

  2. These are the worst trunk latches ever!  I have a 1990 that does the same thing all the time.  Either 1 of two things have happened.  1. It was closed to hard and the locking mechanism got jammed down, in which case all you need to do is pry it back up into place, and gently close the trunk from now on.

    2. The motor is burnt out and you need to get a new one, if this is the case I recommend just pulling it out of a junker, there are always a lot of our cars in junkyards so finding one shouldn't be too hard, plus they are much cheaper that way, and easy to install yourself.

Either way good luck to you and your endeavors with these cursed trunk latches Pontiac has blessed us with.

P.S. Also with what the guy before me said, check the fuse before doing anything else.

  3. Check your owner's manual and see if there is a fuse which controls this function.......see if the fuse is burned out if it is electrical......you might need to go to an auto electric shop for service........     driveway mechanic*******
