Whenever you buy a dress, sweater, suit, etc. the manufacturer provides extra buttons. Before I throw my vast collection away, does anyone have an idea for them?

  1. I have a large jar with buttons setting on the floor of my sewing room...you might think that's just for decor, but it's not! I have done alot of sewing for my kids and grandkids and very seldom have to buy buttons! We always cut off the really neat ones to save for another project too.

They're great glued onto a picture frame or a plant pot or around a small mirror!

The bigger buttons are fun for a toddler to string with a blunt needle and cord to make a necklace/bracelet. They can be glued onto a page in a scrapbook for added interest and on and on. Don't trash them! If you don't want them sell them at a garage sale!

  2. LOL I not only save my own but actually inherited a collection from two aunties who saved theirs, too.  You can make all kinds of things with them.  Glue them to boxes for gifts.  Glue them to frames or around mirrors, to wooden rings for napkin holders, to Styrofoam balls to create Christmas ornaments, to styrofoam circle forms to create wreaths, to wooden rounds with cork on the bottom to create coasters.  You can make earrings with them or necklaces, too. I even covered a lampshade with them once.
