  1. Vegans don't do the whole "dairy" thing. Vegetarians do.

Whatever you want to eat, really. If you like meat, only eat it rarely. Do whatever easiest for you.

  2. You can have everything that everyone else has, it's just in a different form.  You want a burger, have a Boca patty, you want chicken, have some seitan or tempeh...Just make sure that your diet is balanced and healthy (ie. don't eat just pastas and veggies) and you will be just fine.

  3. Vegetarians do not eat:

    meat

    poultry

    fish

    seafood

You may eat everything else and still be considered vegetarian. Good luck and thanks for considering reducing animal suffering.

  4. The main foods are water, fruits, vegetables, nuts (almonds cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, etc), beans (black, pinto, baked, kidney, etc), seeds (flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, hemp, etc), soy products (tofu, TVP, tempeh, fortified soy milk, miso, etc.) pulses, whole grains, quinoa, seiten, nutritional yeast, cereals, chickpea, seaweed, lentils, & vegetable, hemp, and flaxseed oils. Dairy & meat substitutes are optional but sometimes good to include. Some sites to check out:

  5. If you're vegetarian, you cannot eat red meat.

That means, no beef, no lamb.

Now, it's up to you about chicken or fish.

Most vegetarians still drink milk, eat cheese, and eat eggs.

  6. Lacto Vegetarian = eats dairy

    Ova vegetarian = eats eggs

    Polo vegetarian = eats chicken

Vegans= no flesh of any kind nor eggs nor milk.

There is even a fish vegetarian that eats fish.

Personally I am an ova/lacto vegetarian. I couldn't give up my eggs, milkshakes and of course junk food!

I became a vegetarian because I don't  like what is done to the farm animals. I don't like the lack of quality of life. They way that cows are kept pregnant so they can produce milk. That the calf's are torn away from their mothers and put into small shack/crates. That the sick and dying are left on  the curb with no respect for a life. And the reason most give is that they are just farm animals.

I also feel that we as a society have so many other choices that do not cause animals to suffer. Some day I hope I can give up eggs and milk but that's where I get most of my protein.

    Hope this helps you!

There are many prepared entrays for us vegitarians. There's morning star, bocca, Dr. somebody and garden burger.

    I love morning star's:

Meatless ground meat; I make south western omlets, taco's, lasagna and other things you can make with ground meat. Except meat balls and hambergers. But there are companies that make meatless meat balls and meatless burgers. I love the morning star hotdogs. They taste the same to me as meat hot dogs. but I don't boil them. I bake them for 10-15 minutes. many of these products taste soo close to the meat version that many non-vegitarians can't tell the diffrence. Watch out for the fleshless poltry products. Some taste good but most don't taste remotley the same as real pultry.

    Hope this helps!!

  7. Well, instead of eating meat. You can eat tofu/beans/nuts, they're packed with nutrients in meat. Depending on how you go as a vegan, some will eat eggs, and sometimes fish. If you feel really strongly against eating any animal product, then skip those. You should do your research on how they get milk from cows and how the cows are treated.

Being a vegetarian is a choice. You can easily just say "I want to eat meat".
