  1. you should not feed ferrets any dairy products they need high protein and fat. pets at home or pets shop sell ferret food. you should not give them cat food. you can give them a small amount of fruit and veg but not to much as this well give them diorriara you can also buy ferret treat your pet shop. try this link as some feeding tips.

  2. You can feed a ferret non-acidic fruits so not anything with a bitter or sweet juice in.

    Some quite like vegetables too.

A good treat is fish, but don't feed it them too often otherwise they start to get put off it.

Fresh meat is a huge favourite with almost all ferrets, so things like chicken go down quite well.

And last but not least, FerreTone. Its a sweet tasting treat that you buy in a bottle from pet stores and they will do anything for it. Its a good distraction if you want to cut their nails too.

  3. All of these answers have been wrong so far. A ferret should not eat CHEESE, or veggies or fruits, they cannot digest them!

A raw diet is the best thing you can feed your ferret. However, this can be hard to research and maintain and convert your ferret to. A diet is the thing that will determine whether or not your ferret is healthy and lives a long life or is sickly and dies young.

The best food you can feed is Innova EVO as far as kibble goes.

8 in 1 Ultimate, Wysong Archetype I, Natural Gold, Zupreem, Totally Ferret and a few others make good choices. Marshall food is a popular but terrible choice to feed your ferret. For cheap, quality food, go to www.stinkweasels.com. John only sells quality food on his site so no one is mislead. A great guy.

  4. cheese!

  5. another ferret.

  6. Ferrets are just small cats. They are very similar species so you can feed ferrets what you would feed a cat on; chicken, fish or just by cat food. They enjoy milk!

  7. My ferret liked all kinds of vegies, especially green peppers, raw green beans. cat food. ferret food. I don't recommend meat or chocolate.

  11. I second http://www.stinkweasels.com . I recommend all of the food and treats he has listed on that site. I also recommend Nature's Variety Instinct and Horizon Legacy cat foods (not available through stinkweasels.com). Stinkweasels.com lists a couple Wysong foods, but I recommend checking out the Wysong website for more options and ferret specific foods (I'll list a link to their site below).

My ferrets' food mix consists of Innova EVO ferret, Nature's Variety Instinct cat food, ZiwiPeak cat cuisines, Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried steaks and the Carnivore Crunch, AFS freeze-dried sprinkles, Wysong foods, and Zupreem (this is my least favorite of the bunch, but it's one of the better, easier to find ferret foods on the market, so I like to keep it in their mix just in case). I'd really like to get into feeding my ferrets a natural, raw diet, but I think the foods I'm giving my ferrets now are a good second option. Most raw feeders still give their ferrets kibbles on the side and supplement their ferrets' raw diet with some of the above things I mentioned. I also like to provide my ferrets with some Duck Soup, raw egg, and meat flavored baby foods from time to time.

My basic rules when looking for foods - they should be grain free, low in carbs, high in meat protein, and I also try to stay away from foods with corn, tapioca, and potato, all of which are high on the glycemic index (ferrets are prone to pancreatic problems, so lower GI is better). However, some of the kibbles my ferrets get contain either potato or tapioca (Nature's Variety has tapioca, EVO contains potato), which is why I like to feed mine a mix. There's A LOT to know when looking into ferret nutrition, I'm always learning something new. And the best stuff for them is usually going to be the more expensive stuff, so don't be cheap about what you feed your little rascals.
