  1. Water running in the same direction when you flush the loo or empty your sink!

  2. You should ask yourself what you might want to buy and then use the Internet to comparison shop.  Sites like www.sears.com and www.walmart.com are good sources of prices.

For example, electronics are often less in the USA than elsewhere due to lower taxes.  Check sites like www.bestbuy.com and www.compusa.com for prices and compare them with stores where you live.

Do be certain anything electrical you buy in the USA will work in Australia.  Laptops, cellphones, hand-held game devices, etc. tend to accept any voltage and all you need is a plug adapter to use them anywhere in the world.

When shopping, remember that sales taxes (something like VAT) in the USA are added at the cash register and are NOT on the price tag for most items.  Sales tax in most cities is about 8%, so an item with a price tag of $100 will actually cost $108.

Louisiana is the only US state that offers a tax refund program for international visitors:  http://www.louisianatravel.com/shop/tax_...

    Good luck!
