Bansamoro is a movement of Filipino Muslims particularly, Muslim politicians and separatists groups in Mindanao to form an independent Muslim state in southern Philippines known today as ARMM (Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao). Muslims claim that these lands come from their ancestors and were lost through several land reforms during and after the colonial times by Spain and the United States. Although their claims remains subjective.

Majority of the Filipinos see this as a threat to the Philippine Republic and methods to neutralize this movement has created serious armed-conflicts that has waged on for decades between Muslim rebels and government forces. Some view this as a method that would stop the conflicts by implementing a 'state within a state'. Radical Islamic groups like M.N.L.F and M.I.L.F are the prime political and armed groups that support Bansamoro.
