I think the church is a place of worship and the church should stop preaching about going to h**l if people used condoms and contraceptives while a mass is in session.

  1. that's a total abuse of their power.

they should not intervene with government policies.

they should just preach about religious matters and not talk about national concerns already being handled by the government.

besides, the reproductive health bill is a positive thing.

the country's population is increasing at a very high rate.

it needs to be solved now so we could work on other stuff that would help alleviate poverty in the country.

  2. priests have been ordered by bishops to keep telling people  the reproductive bill is evil. its up to the people if they want the bill to pass. if they dont want it they should join rallies.

  3. population growth is true/reality, their belief isn't. Belief can never be true. belief is neither wrong and right at the same time.

  4. Your reproductive organs, condoms, and contraceptives is CHURCH business.  Regardless of whether it is passed around in government!  If you're Catholic, then you might try paying attention to your religion instead of making idiot comments like these.

  5. Either believe the doctrine or get out of the Church. We worship God in obeying his edicts, not just in prayer.

  6. so what's new?

if you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen.

  7. A Church is not only a place of worship but a place to learn the Word of God..

I understand the concept about the separation of Church and state.. The government can say whatever they want with no interference by the Church while the Church can also do that as well with no interference from the other.. The Church is just performing its duty.. If we just go there to worship and then not learn the Word of God then we're not following doctrine and just doing whatever we want.. We have to base it all in the Bible...

  8. i think it is just good for the church to tackle about the issue...it is just to remind us that we are human and it is desirable for as to act in a humane way....the church will help the  people to realize what they are going to miss if they are to stand in a pro choice movement!..besides it is the duty of the church to stand by as our "MOTHER"

and they are  just obeying, respecting, patronizing and preaching the good will of God for us!

  9. it is the duty of the church to keep reminding the faithful of our moral obligations. the pulpit is the place for that, whether we accept the teachings of the church is another matter but we should at least listen.

  10. I agree with you. Instead of preaching about the passage of the reproductive bill, they should spread God's words on raising a family, morality, accountability, values, etc. to counteract the rising crime rates, corruption in government, poverty , abortions, etc. They should act as the conscience of the government through service to the people, not as the voice of the people when they are speaking of the stand of the church. Their stand on this issue does not reflect the voice of the people who are suffering. I think they have abandoned their duty of spreading the word of God.

  11. I'd say they're acting like they have always acted before. The Catholic Church is very dogmatic, and they won't be changing anytime soon. So, I will not be surprised if the Catholic Church continues to lose members. Heck, they are even having problems now recruiting young men into priesthood.

Just a thought: Have you ever noticed how loud they get when talking against reproductive health, contraception, abortion, etc. yet you don't hear them speaking out against women and children being abused? For a change, they should speak out against sexual abuse of children (especially by the clergy), or wife battering, or hunger, or discrimination...

  12. It is the Church's duty to shepherd it's flock and give moral guidance. So it is perfectly fine. The issues are far more serious than "modern" Pinoys, think, that Is why the Church has to voice out her stand and not be a fence-sitter:

    1. Why Pills Cause Early Abortion

Here's a way to learn more why we should defend our Catholic faith's stand against the Reproductive Health Bill.

The Church is against the bill because, among other things, the Reproductive Health Bill will allow abortion. How? The Catholic Church has always taught that "Life begins at conception" that is, upon the union of the sperm and the egg.

Population Control groups are now insisting now that "life begins at implantation." This gives them the excuse to destroy the fertilized egg (3-5day old fetus/baby) before implantation which is what most contraceptive pills do. Some 15 years ago, oral contraceptive pills had 400 mcg. of ethinyl estradiol to prevent ovulation (ovary's production of a mature ovum) but caused nausea and headaches, which made it unpopular. They reduced ethinyl estradiol to less than 10% (30 mcg), to make it more popular. Oral contraceptive pills today have reduced contents of ethinyl estradiol, which allows ovulation (production of a mature egg and the union of the sperm with the egg). BUT  why won't you get pregnant? Oral contraceptives now  have an added chemical, levonorgestrel, that prevents implantation of the fertilized egg ( 3-5day old fetus/baby). This causes early abortion.

    2. Use of Condoms is immoral. Besides here's a condom fact sheet:

    Condom Facts Sheet

    1. "24 sets of condoms tested and all failed" and almost 71% failed "In respect of one or more of the physical requirements of the specification, notably freedom from pinholes." SABS report April 89.

    2. "Spillage from condoms occurs as much as 65% to 75% of the time." Bjorklund and Gordon. Univ of Manitoba. Nov. 1990.

    3. "The rubber comprising latex condom has intrinsic voids about 5 microns in size." The HIV virus is 0.1 micron. Roland, Rubber World. June 1993. Roland and Sobieski, Rubber Chemistry and Technology. Vol. 62, 1989.

    4. Condoms reduce the risk of HIV infection by about 70% if they are used "consistently and correctly" IPPF (International Planned Parenthood Federation) Medical Bulletin Feb. 1997.

5."It is not established whether the condom is as effective at preventing heterosexual transmission of HIV as it is for preventing conception." "The level of protection approximates 87%, with a range depending upon the incidence (of HIV) among condom nonusers. Thus the condom's efficacy at reducing heterosexual transmission may be comparable to or slightly lower than its effectiveness at preventing pregnancy." Family Planning Perspectives, 1999.

    6. The failure rate for condoms in preventing pregnancy is 10%. K. Niswander. Manual of Obstetrics 1980.

    7. The ISO standard for condoms allows 2 per 350 to be defective (about six defects per thousand.) (Tough luck if you happen to be one of those six)

    8. "Increased condom use will increase the number of [HIV/AIDS] transmissions that result from condom failure" and "a vigorous condom promotion policy could increase rather than decrease unprotected sexual exposure if it has the unintended effect of encouraging a greater overall level of sexual activity." 9. In one test, 33% of latex condoms leaked HIV sized particles. Sexually Transmitted Diseases. vol.19. 1992

    10. Ontario Ministry of Health campaign to promote condoms by means of televised AIDS messages made respondents more inclined to use condoms but less inclined to avoid casual sexual partners. Wilde, Target Risk, PDE Publications, 1994.

    11. IPPF indicates that the risk of contracting AIDS during so-called "protected s*x" approaches 100 percent as the number of episodes of sexual intercourse increases. Cates Medical Bulletin, IPPF 1997.

    12. The only sure ways to avoid sexual transmission of diseases (including AIDS, chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, gonorrhoea, hepatitis B, and syphilis) are not to have s*x at all or to limit s*x to one uninfected partner who is also monogamous.
