What can you sprout? How? I dont understand!!?

I heard of people growing their own sprouts but what are they sprouting?? How can I sprout whatever u sprout? lol

I'm thinking this should be under gardening.  If they aren't growing bean sprouts then they're starting their plants off by growing seeds in a tiny pot of some sort until they sprout.  I've seen it done in a half egg shell with potting soil.  Then when the plant is alittle bigger the small  plant is transplanted into another pot that is alittle larger until it is large enough to plant outside in the garden, something like that.  I've always wanted to do this.  Found this site:  http://www.the grdenhelper.com/growing seeds.html.
