for you animal lovers,i guess you actually hate the animal shelters that kill animals everyday just because of the lack of space.then, what do you suggest animal shelters do instead?do you want animal shelters to cramp up with animals?

people are always saying a "no-kill" animal shelter.but i don't get the idea of it.what if nobody adopts the animals there?then animals cramp up inside their cages.then they will soon die on their own for overpopulation inside the cage...what's the use of it?it's just like killing the animals because you don't give them space.

wht do you suggest shelters do?

opinions?

  1. People do complain about no-kill shelters, but I don't think they understand quite how they work. No-kill shelters accept new animals until they are full - then they don't (and can't) accept any more. The animals that are not accepted into the full no-kill shelter may end up dying out on the street or in another shelter. In a way, no-kill shelters do kill animals - just indirectly instead of directly. Unfortunately there are just too many animals out there and not enough people out there who want a pet (and too many people who don't spay and neuter their pets and add to the problem!)

So what needs to be done? Obviously it is very important to get the information out about the necessity of spaying and neutering. Just seeing the many questions and answers on Y!A from people who have not spayed/neutered their animals shows me that the message has just not gone out to everyone.

Another thing that needs to be done is give more money to shelters. This allows them to increase their space and care for more animals, and also allows them to provide low-cost spaying/neutering and vaccinations for people who need them. Also, this helps them educate the public about proper pet care.

Another thing I would like to see is greater cooperation between various shelters. Around me I know some of the shelters from the city cooperate with other shelters from the country to exchange dogs (big dogs are more likely to find owners out in the country, and small dogs do better in the city, for example). More states and metropolitan areas need to implement a program like this to help get animals to good homes.

  2. Im gonna own a animal shelter in a few years. what im going to do is set a number of how many pets can be in the shelter each month.

edit; I'll put ads etc up. I'll figure it out.
