  1. for tourists, and its well hard to climb if your scared of heights.

  2. "Blarney Castle was built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftains, Cormac MacCarthy, and has been attracting attention beyond Munster ever since. Not all of that has been welcome, as Good Queen Bess and Oliver Cromwell could testify. But over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney, making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures.

Now that might have something to do with the Blarney Stone, the legendary Stone of Eloquence, found at the top of our Tower. Kiss it and you’ll never again be lost for words. But don’t take our word for it – everyone from Sir Walter Scott to a host of American presidents, world leaders, and international entertainers has been eager to take advantage.

If people come for the Stone, many stay for the mystical and beautiful Rock Close and gardens. Time has its own rules here. So settle down and spend some of that time with us."

  3. Don't kiss the stone, it gets pissed on regularly !

  4. I went there and kissed the blarney stone... its supposed to give you the gift of speaking.

Its a tourist castle thats really old.

  5. It is a castle in a National Park, in Cork, Ireland. It's really well known because of the Blarney Stone - you go to the top of the castle, lean back over the edge and kss the stone, this is supposed to give you 'the gift of the gab', although I've done it twice and it never made any difference to me!

  6. It' s the remains of a genuine castle, but all the rubbish about kissing the stone is only a gimmick to extract money from gullible tourists.

  7. Here is a link about Blarney Castle in Co. Cork.

  8. you kiss is its scary cuz your just hanging there (im scared of heights) I was only little though. Kids can just kiss another part i think. I went as a kid and i loved it.

  9. "Blarney Castle is a medieval stronghold in Blarney, near Cork, Ireland. It is near the River Martin. The castle originally dates from before AD 1200. It was destroyed in 1446, but subsequently rebuilt by Cormac MacCarthy, the King of Munster. It is currently a partial ruin with some accessible rooms and the battlements. At the top of the castle lies the Stone of Eloquence, better known as the Blarney Stone. Tourists visiting Blarney Castle may hang upside-down over a sheer drop to kiss the stone, which is said to give the gift of eloquence. Photographs are taken of the "magic moment". There are many legends as to the origin of the stone, but some say that it was the Lia Fáil—a magical stone upon which Irish kings were crowned.

Surrounding the castle are beautiful and quite extensive gardens. There are paths touring the grounds with signs pointing out the various attractions such as several natural rock formations which have been given fanciful names, such as Druid's Circle, Witch's Cave and the Wishing Steps. Blarney House, a Scottish baronial-style mansion, was built on the grounds in 1874. It is also open to the public."
