Is it strong? Flexible? Brittle? Whatever else.

Cheers.

  1. HRC1060 is a hot rolled carbon steel.

    -It is AISI 1060/SAE 1060 Steel.

    *HRC is also a short form for hot rolled coiled steel.

    *Applications include battering tools, hot upset forging dies, ring-rolling tools, wear-resistant parts, hand tools, and parts for agricultural implements.

    *Material Components Properties/Metric/ English

    -Carbon, C 0.550 - 0.660 % /0.550 - 0.660 %

    -Iron, Fe 98.35 - 98.85 %/ 98.35 - 98.85 %

    -Manganese,Mn 0.600 -0.900 %/ 0.600-0.900 %

    -Phosphorous, P <= 0.0400 % /<= 0.0400 %

    -Sulfur, S <= 0.0500 % /<= 0.0500 %

    *Note:

    study the iron-carbon equilibrium diagram,and you will find that with carbon % more than 0.83%,ductility is diminishing gradually and weldability is also becoming harder.

  2. HRC usually mean Rockwell Hardness "C" scale.  I don't know what it is doing there.

    The "10" in 1060 means it is straight carbon steel with no alloying.  The "60" mean 0.6% Carbon, it's a high carbon steel.    It would be harder and stronger than a mild steel and can be heat treated to be either springy or brittle.
