Puerto Montt is located at the south of Chile.

The most important activity is the fishing and farming. Other important activities are tourism, hospitality  and handicraft.

The weather use to be a bit cold, around 800 to 1000 mm of rain per year, which is important for farming (big milk farms are located in Puerto Montt and Osorno). You can expect to find species like Larch, Cinamon tree, Cipress or Firebush, and also local species like Mañio, Tepa or Arrayan (Myrtle).

The people is friendly and warm, and you'll find the mix of bloodlines between native, spanish and german.

It's common to find churches and houses made of wood, with very interesting construction made of larch. If you visit Puerto Montt, take a time to visit Puerto Varas and Chiloe.

The food is mostly composed by sea food, with the typical "curanto" or salmon. if you don't like seafood, you can still find wonderful beef or pork.
