  2. Hello; Spotted pythons and other members of the Antaresia family are a personal favorite of mine; they are absolutely wonderful little snakes. :)

As far as enclosure size goes; try for something with about three to five square feet of floor space, and about eighteen inches to two feet high for adults. They can be housed in smaller terrariums; but they are a pretty active species and definitely seem to appreciate the extra room. Particularly when young; they love to climb and enjoy lots of branches and hiding places, so be sure to provide at least two hides and several things for it to climb on. While many different kinds of terrariums can be used; make SURE that you have very secure locks on it as these guys are wonderful escape artists.

Keep in mind that Spotted pythons can be and often are quite nippy as babies, though they do tame down as adults with regular handling. Do be prepared to be bitten a few times at first; it really doesn't hurt, more startles than anything. You'll have to expect that and squash the automatic fear response. It is just scared because it doesn't understand that you aren't some giant predator swooping down to eat it. :) Just be gentle, confident, and consistent with handling it a few times per week (after giving your spotted about a week to settle in after you get it), and you should have a docile little animal in no time. :)

Here are a few websites that have great information on the care, maintenance, and general specifics of keeping Spotted Pythons.

    Good luck!
