When you add super glue to an object, (other than your hands), it takes about 10 minutes to dry completely. Is there anything you can put on it to make it dry superfast?

  1. besides the super glue accelerators they sell in hobby shops etc., you can use baking soda. not kidding.

  2. Super glue is a monomer of polycyanoacrylate. It doesn't really dry. It polymerizes into an acrylic. Unlike regular glue there is no alcohol or water to dry as it sets.

Untreated polycyanoacrylate sets almost instantly on contact with ions that may be found on most surfaces, including your skin.

Manufacturers have treated it with chemicals to SLOW its setting time because of all the complaints from customers who have inadvertently glued themselves to objects.

I don't think you can remove the additives without causing a runaway polymerization. There are accelerators on the market, however. And you may be able to find fast setting, untreated super glue, perhaps at a hobby store.

  3. There are accelerators available that make superglue set faster. You will find that in hobby shops.
