  1. First off if you are the Kicker 15'' L7's or the round sub.'s that is the alternative to the L7's then they are punching out 1,000 watts RMS each like I think you may be doing .....You need high-current applications such as dry or deep-cell battery(s) and high current alternator(s) and electrical system upgrades.....Capacitors do nothing other than stiffening voltage is all.......It is a meant for when you have high current systems to keep the voltage to the amps from the battery from having a voltage drop is all so you do not lose voltage which is your gain......It cannot keep your electrical, battery, ignition switch, and/or alternator from burning up and catching on fire that is the reason you need high-current applications.....

  2. yeah like the guy above me said, don't waste money on a capacitor.

The capacitor really wont help you at all, especially if you think it will make you any louder, it doesn't do anything like that.  A lot of shops act like they are recquired, but they aren't even recommended by most people!

  3. What amp are you using? Thats whats going to be draining the power?

  4. Honostly you dont need a cap. right now im running 2 2000watt amps to 4 12" 1000 watt subs, (4000 watt max) and i had it all professionally installed. Only reason you would need a cap is if you dont have a reliable battery/alternater.

Just make sure your using 0-4gage wire from the battery to the amp that has a 125-150amp fuse and you'll be fine

  5. Ideally, you would run 1 Farid for each 1000 watts, so for 4000 watts, you would run a 4 Farid cap.  I am assuming however, since they are kicker, that they are actually 2000 watt max subs, which means RMS is only about 800w or so, so you would probably only need a 2 Farid cap.

I would, however, recommend you spend your money on other parts of your system.  A cap is nice, and ideallisticly they are wonderful, but adding caps won't do a thing if your electrical system isn't up to par.  If you are wanting to prevent headlight dimming, and voltage drops, invest the money in a better alternator, and better battery, and putting on a new groundstrap for your engine.  These things will make a significatly larger improvment than adding a capacitor.

  6. A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help.

The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.

If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more,  you will need to:

    1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator

    2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery

    3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace (or add to) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 2 AWG wire.

Failure to do this will result in the early death of the alternator  as it will eventually fail.

Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need  http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php...

You will need Microsoft Excel. If you don't have Excel, use this link http://www.box.net/shared/nkkw1dhk4g

A second battery is never a good idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car off.

  7. at least 4.5 farads is  better going little bit up

  8. look run a 5 farad rockford fosgate cap.. i think there one of the best.. plain and simple.. i mean i've put in some caps into alot of cars but none like the rockford..
