I know the Toyota prius is a great car and have seen a lot of them popping up. I love the prius because it is a reliable car from a reliable company, middle of the road price, and the gas mileage is the best around. However, the Toyota prius really suffers on the highway. What car (gas or gas/electric (hybrid)) will give me the BEST fuel economy on the HIGHWAY.

Also, I have seen videos on youtube that if you stay accelerate under 2,000 rpm's this saves you gas, honestly I really don't care, when I am driving on the highway I want to get up and go, not take it easy. Thanks.

  1. 10-speed bike

  2. The Prius doesn't suffer too bad on the highway if you keep it at or below 70.

The Honda Civic Hybrid and the Toyota Prius are both rated at 45mpg highway.  These are the best you are going to get unless you got a motorcycle.

A VW TDI will be comparable, but they are more expensive and diesel gas costs more.

I get about 47 highway in my '07 Prius if I keep it about 65.

I get about 49 highway in my '07 prius if I keep it 60 or under.

  3. Civic and Prius Hybrids gets 45 mpg on the highway. The Mini and the Corolla get 37mpg.  Yaris gets 36.

  4. If your doing alot of highway driving hybrids arent the way to go, paying the TON of extra money to get a hybrid wont be made up in highway fuel economy. Go with a regular Honda civic, great highway milage (over 40 im pretty sure), theres tons of them out there so there not to expensive, runs forever, and not to bad on the fun to drive scale either.

  5. You also need to Pick THE size that best fits your needs...

Geo Metro (they don't make anymore) Suzuki Swift  52 mpg to 58 mpg

New Cars Yarius doesn't even do very well... You'd think it would get better than it does...

Honda FIT is the best over all On the hwy and in the city... and can Fit some stuff in there with 4 people...

Now knowing the Hybrid's do have a problem getting there stated fuel mileage when driving over 60% on the HWY's they still get better than the rest at 38 mpg

I like the Honda Civic Hybrid stays at 40 mpg.... Rented one in LA and drove for a week got 46 mpg better than stated.

If I had the cash I would get the Lexus Hybrid GS
