What car should a student living in LA get?

I'm living in LA and I need a car. What car gets good mileage, reliable, nothing fancy. Price range no more than $9000?

For 9 grand your going to get a crappy used car that will give you problems every year. Why don't you save 7 grand put 2 down lease a 2008 honda accord for about 200 a month and keep that 7 grand aside to make payments on the honda. If you buy a car right now lets say for 8 grand and in 2 to . years which is the typical lease term take of the 2 years from the used car you bought now its worth 4,500 you lost all that money and at the same time you drove a crappy car but you could drive a brand new 2008 hassle free honda for 2 years at a total of 4,800 and you can put up most of the money that you did not put as a down in the bank and make intrest on it. Now if you have ok to good credit I say lease a car.

You should get a Honda or a Nissan. They get good mileage and are very reliable. You can get one for way less than $9,000 at a car auction.
