What that other guy said ... completely retarded.  You would not blow your system with 6x9s.  That statement doesn't even make any sense.

With that said, I would never use a 6x9 for anything.  You didn't specify what you were aiming for out of this system.  given the amp you linked to, subs are not part of this, which rules out the second part of what that guy said.  That amp you linked to is fine for some regular speakers.  As far as what speakers, what ever fits in your car.   If you have 6x9 holes, I'd cut a baffle and install a 6.5", 6", 5.25" or other speaker that's round.  Oval speakers would be a poor choice, unless you're just going for a cheap factory replacement and don't really want to put any work into your system.
