I recently bought 350 watt Boss speakers for the front of my car and 800 watts for the rear. A sales associate at Circuit city told me that i would need an amp to power them but was too incompetent to tell me what kind. Which size amp would work best for me?

  1. You would need to find an amp that matches the RMS rating of the lower wattage speaker that is four channels.

The ratings you gave are the Peak or max. Throw those numbers in the trash. They are useless. If you were to actually give those speakers that kind of wattage, you would be the proud owner of 4 blown speakers.

My best guess for the best wattage to give those speakers would be between 25 and 50 watts RMS.

  2. I'd imagine that the fronts RMS together at 350 watts and the backs together RMS at 800 watts. I've had boss speakers, and you shouldn't overpower them by a single watt, or you'll be displeased in the quality. It's too much for the headunit to take because most give less than 25w X 4 channels. I suggest getting a 2 channel amplifier, and hooking the right side speakers together (front with back) and the same with the left side. That will give you 575w RMS on each channel that you would need. Get the Boss Audio D600.2 amplifier. It puts out 600w at each channel on 2 ohm loads. Then turn the gain down, so no overheating occurs, and you'll have a decent sounding car. Good luck

  3. uuuuhhhhmmmm I would not recommend bridging any interior speakers together it isnt profssional nor would it sound good cause the amp would have to push that total # thru 2 channels  and curcuit city only sell and install they dont have extensive knowledge, or they'd have told U the rms level of the speakers AND an amp to go with it,,,
