What car to buy?

Ok basically im 18 and looking for a car to use in college (in wyoming). Id like it to have as many of the following features as possible.

- Im looking for something that has power and speed yet also makes good mileage (at least 20+ mpg).

-good sound system though this would be relatively easy to

upgrade after I buy the car.

-Preferably rwd or awd

-generally good looking

-comfort

So far, Ive looked at the Subaru wrx sti and the Honda Civic si most seriously. I have a moderate budget and need to preferably stay below $25k though i wouldnt mind going a bit over or buying a slightly used car. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what car models I should look at? any suggestions appreciated. thanks in advance.

  1. I would prefer Honda cause it is reliable, cheap for gas and insurance.

I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.hotusa.org...

Young drivers usually have much higher rates than others. And it depends from car.

  2. A used Audi.

  3. I would recomend the subaru, one with awd. That would get around in the wyoming snow alot better than a honda. although the honda would get better gas mileage and their not terrible on ice and snow. I worked as a mechanic at a honda dealer and they are pretty tough little cars.

  4. mustang

  5. You want front wheel drive, it is much safer in the winter.

Basically anything except a pick up will get your 20 mpg, if you want something really good on gas go for a toyota, saturn or a honda

Ford is great, but the transmission won't last beyond 130,000 miles, so don't get one if you want it to last.

I wouldn't buy a brand new car, because think about it this way, sign the paper and drive it off the lot, it is officially used and the value decreases so fast. Buy one slightly used so you could easily sell it for something around what you bought it at.

sound systems are wicked easy to set up in any car

    and looks is an opinion.

I want a toyota yaris, an el camino, a jeep wrangler, or a saturn

toyotas, saturns, dodges, or hondas are your best bet in my opinion

  6. My Top Fav. 3 Cars:

    1998 VW GTi VR6

    1993 Civic Si Hatch

    1993 Nissan 240SX

Thats only if u want to tune them up, but if u wanna new car, i wud choose an 2004 VW R32,

The STi and Civic Si are really good choices Too.

it depends what u really want.

  7. 25k?  When I was 18 it was 1k.

If you get a slightly used camaro it should be a good investment (they don't have a current model) I have a 96 and it runs great, gets 27 mpg (it does 70 at 1700 rpms) is rear wheel, has a decent sound system,  of course it's good looking, its a camaro.

If you don't mind riding a little low, it's pretty comfortable.

  8. RWD is great, but limits choices.  First generation Hyundais were not comfortable, see Pony.  A Lada was not even THAT good.

So, Mustang, yes - a nice V6 with cheaper insurance.

  9. Subaru Forester 2.5 X 24,140

The Forester is Subaru’s compact crossover SUV that is redesigned for 2009 with an increase in size and a more SUV-like appearance. With styling that ties it more closely to the new Impreza and the redesigned Tribeca, the new Forester is 4.5 inches taller, 1.8 inches wider and 3 inches longer than its predecessor for additional cargo capacity and more rear-seat legroom. Subaru is the first company to offer all-wheel drive across its entire model line. The Forester was introduced for the 1998 model year and redesigned for 2003. Built on the Impreza platform, the Forester feature's Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.
