I would be looking for a used 5 seater car at, or under, £5000 and with a very high EuroNCAP safety rating.

Suzuki Swift (any model), they are brilliant, the new ones look really cool too!

It is very cheap to insure due to the small(ish) engines, also because it has a small engine it is very econmoical, with 25-30 litres you can drive 300-400 miles, it is a japanese car and therefore very reliable, these cars DO NOT break down due to faults (i.e. only wear and tar of you let it get that bad), they are also very very safe!

Well you could get a.... oh wait that's a GBP sign, hmmmm.... ummm... how bout a clio? or you could get a secondhand Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1, or Pergeot 107... i dont know what the heck im talking about haha

I'm not from England so I don't know how much 5,000 pounds in worth (I think that's what you call them) but I suggest a crappy one to start so if you mess it up it won't be that big a deal.
