What career choice should I chose? Graphic design or something else?

Ive wanted to be a graphic designer for some time now and im not in college yet so i still have time. im just worried that if im a graphic designer and i go to college it will be a waste since im not guaranteed a steady everyday job since its more freelance. i dont want to be put through college for graphic design and it go to waste you know what i mean? im worried about maintaining a job and benefits and stuff like that. please no stupid answers its just wasting space and time. thanks

Take two subjects. That way you always have something to fall back on.

Concentrate on being "the Best" and eventually you will be successful.
