I'm a sophomore in college and I still don't know what I want to do with my life. Freshman year I was majoring in graphic design but I don't think i'm creative enough for it. I been thinking about maybe teaching or nursing. I want to do something thats meaningful and makes a difference in the world and I also want to beable to support myself financially and not have to rely on anyone. Any Advice?

  1. Nursing is great. And I would I have to disagree with anna that "it is too late" to get in to nursing. Its not to late for anything! You're in your second year of college right? Well you start to take some science courses or pre-reqs and then apply to a community college for your ADN-associates in nursing. And you will be elligble to take NCLEX-RN and be a nurse! Gl!

  2. Nursing requires a lot of science and clinical hours, and if you haven't started you are behind--plus the programs have waitlists as there is limited capacity for training nurses.

I would consider teaching, as there will be demand by the time you graduate.  If you can major in science or math, or be willing to get a certificate in special education, you will be in demand just about anywhere in the country.  Teaching salaries are going up everywhere, so you will be able to support yourself, and many teachers do other jobs during summers or even during the year.
