What careers are available in anthropology? I really want to help people in some direct way (in other words, I don't want to be a teacher or writer, but I'd be okay with that if it's the only option).

Is there any way to study the races of Europe without seeming prejudiced? I'm NOT prejudiced against any race or culture, but I find it fascinating how there are subtle details in the appearance of people even in different areas of countries and how they act and pronounce things.

Is there any way to major in languages in college without them being only romance languages? I want French, German, and Russian, mostly.

  1. There are many anthropology opportunities in the public health field.

  2. First, realize that race doesn't exist as anything more than a social contruct. Unilt you make this realization, you are prejudice. If you want to study appearance, you want to study human variation within physical or biological anthropology. Of course, appearance is the least interesting and superficial area you could go with that. It certainly won't 'help people'.

If you want to study how people pronounce things, that has absolutely nothing to do with 'race' or biology, that's linguistics. Linguistics can be study within or outside of the Anthropology department.

I suggest you take an introduction to anthropology course.
