Depending on your age and financial status, 1/2 karot is perfectly fine.  I would be sure to make sure that the quality of the diamond is excellent.  It will make a difference in the look of the ring.  If you can afford more, a girl will never complain about a bigger diamond.

1/2 a carrot? I think a diamond should have at least a carrot. . . .6 or more is always the best way 2 go especially if the person you are buying it for is a woman!

the size doesnt matter...as long as you dont go in debt that is. but what does matter is that u get a good cut and good clarity...cus u want a shiny diamond, not a big ugly rock that looks UGLY...=)

Half a carat to three quarters of a carat would be nice and not too flashy.

Okay, everyone on here giving ridiculous amounts of diamonds are probably sitting in their trailer on their 1994 computer trying to figure out who they baby daddy is. seriously. it's yahoo answers.

1/2 karat is perfect! personally, that would be the largest i would want because i don't like super gaudy jewelry. it's the look of the actual ring, and of course the thought that counts, but that's just me.

anyway if you're getting married, it's not exactly going to be the last piece of expensive jewelry you get her haha.
