Ford Escape is your best bet...BUT...you can get a Jeep Compass for 6,000+ dollars less and the fuel efficiency is only slightly less. A hybrid version of the Compass and it's Dodge counterpart the Caliber may possibly be available for the '08 or '09 model year though, since Chrysler has developed a hybrid Durango.

A little side note about tax credits: You only get that 3,000 dollars if you OWE at least 3,000 in taxes. If you don't owe income taxes, then you will get no benefit from it. It isn't a rebate.

I believe the donkey is available as a hybrid...or is that a dual-fuel vehicle?  I'm never sure.  I think you can feed a donkey grass or apples making it very efficient.  It basically allows you to refuel anywhere.

t just get a little Toyota Corrola. It is much cheaper and gets better mileage than most of the Hybrids. Or better yet get a small European diesel that gets better. These also don't have the battery controversy.

Another option is to just get a Cadillac Escalade and buy Carbon offsets and then you can be "Carbon Neutral" like Al.
